The Vijayalakshmi Innovation Center in Women’s Health Analytics and Research (VIHAR) housed in the School of Medicine’s Department of Biomedical Informatics, was established by the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences in December 2024. VIHAR will develop the World's First Female Digital Health Twin with "co-labs" around the world and cross-sector partnerships. VIHAR will conduct world-class research and training that empowers females of all ages across the world to take charge of their own health and well-being in collaboration with AI, health care technology and systems. VIHAR's vision is to become the world’s premier innovation center of knowledge and practice in evidence-based girls and women’s integrated health and wellness across the life span.

Integrative Modeling of Multimodal Health Data

The VIHAR Center’s mission is to empower girls and women around the globe to take charge of their own health and well-being through engineered technology and systems that enable proactive and preventative care. VIHAR has an ambitious long-term goal of collaborative team science leading to the development of a comprehensive female digital health twin that provides AI-enabled modeling across the lifespan. Such modeling can be used to tailor the guidance for individuals within the context of their respective health care systems.
