Vanathi Gopalakrishnan
Dr. Gopalakrishnan earned her Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Technology from B.M.S. College of Engineering in India, followed by an MS and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a tenured faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Informatics in the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Gopalakrishnan’s work integrates innovative rule-learning methodologies for predictive modeling, advancements in explainable AI, and a dedication to fostering future leaders in biomedical informatics. She founded the PRoBE laboratory for Pattern Recognition from Biomedical Evidence (see: https://www.dbmi.pitt.edu/probe/) within the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2000. As the Founding Director of VIHAR, Vanathi serves as the Chief Research and Administrative Officer for this new SOM Center which is a component of the Pitt Collaboratory for Health AI
