Edith Luhanga is an assistant research professor at Carnegie Mellon University Africa. Her research focuses on developing theory-based behavior change technologies (persuasive technologies) using a human-centered approach. She primarily focuses on health behaviors such as promoting healthier diets, pregnancy self-care, and management of childhood diseases endemic in Africa, but she also collaborates on studies on personal finance and online privacy and security behaviors through CyLab-Africa. Edith was part of a consultancy team for the Tanzania Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly, and Children, and was Tanzania's representative on the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee to draft recommendations on the ethics of artificial intelligence in 2021.
