Lindsay Clare Matsumura received her PhD in Developmental Studies from UCLA in 1998. She is the associate dean of Research in the School of Education, a professor of Learning Sciences and Policy, and a research scientist at the Learning Research & Development Center (LRDC). She has obtained multiple grants from the Department of Education’s Institute for Education Sciences to fund her research on teacher professional development, education technology, and literacy instruction and learning. Her recent work in these areas includes developing and studying an online literacy coaching system to increase the quality of reading comprehension instruction and learning, and an automated feedback system to improve students’ analytic text-based writing. Lindsay’s work has appeared in several scholarly and practitioner-oriented journals, and she has written a book for teachers based on her research on writing instruction.
